the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Mr. Femi
Adesina, on Friday, clarified that President Muhammadu Buhari suspended
the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS), David
Parradang, for unauthorized recruitment into the Service.
Adesina, who replied Vanguard’s enquiry in a Short Message Service
(SMS), dispelled insinuations in some quarters that Parradang was
suspended because an ISIS chief, Ahmed Al Assir, got entry visa at the
Nigerian embassy in Lebanon to visit Nigeria.
He said: “The suspension of Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration
Services (NIS), David Parradang, today (Friday), was not connected to
the probe of how the ISIS chief got the Nigerian visa but for
unauthorized recruitment into the Immigration Service.”
Recall that Parradang was appointed into office in June 2013 for a four-year tenure.
He was also indicted in the recruitment scandal which led to the
death of at least 19 job seekers across Nigeria, during a nationwide
recruitment test conducted by the NIS, on Saturday, March 16, 2014.
Millions of job seekers who reportedly paid the sum of N1,000 as
application fee, had thronged venues of the exercise, mostly stadia.
Earlier, a statement signed by the Director of Press, Federal
Ministry of Interior, Mr Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji, on behalf of the permanent
secretary of the ministry, yesterday in Abuja, said the Federal
Government had suspended from office the Comptroller-General of
Immigration, Mr. Parradang, with immediate effect.
The statement said the Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr
Martin Kure Abeshi, has been directed to take over the affairs of the
office.
Abeshi is the most senior officer after Parradang, the statement added.

Hold Wike Responsible For Unrest In Rivers, APC Tells Buhari
he All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to hold Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike responsible for any breach of peace in the state that may result from his planned dissolution of elected chairmen and councillors of the 23 local government areas of the state.
Fayose Is Really Sick, Says APC: Read What He Said About Ibrahim Shekau…
TOPICS:Ekiti State Governorknowing those behind the Boko Haram insurgency.Mr Ayodele Fayose has accusedthe leadership of All Progressives Congress(APC) of
Ayo Fayose
The APC’s Presidential Campaign Organisation has said the Federal Government was planning to use a fake Ibrahim Shekau to implicate the party’s presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd)
In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose lamented the open display of hatred against Nigeria and its people by the APC.
Fayose therefore charged the APC to produce the original Shekau, since the party knows that the Federal Government was presenting a fake one, saying; “It is obvious that APC does not want the insurgency to end.”
“Up till today, the APC has not made any statement, commending our gallant soldiers that are laying down their lives to save Nigerians from the Boko Haram insurgents.
”Instead of commending the soldiers and encouraging them, what the APC people are doing is to blackmail the military and one wonders why a party will want to take over power by supporting killing of innocent Nigerians.”
Speaking further, the governor said; “With the onslaught on the Boko Haram by our gallant soldiers, the APC appears to have lost the game of using the insurgency to campaign against President Goodluck Jonathan.
”Instead of them to face this reality, they have come up with this criminal assertion that a fake leader of Boko Haram, Ibrahim Shekau, was being presented before Nigerians by the government, in order to claim winning the war on terrorism.
”They are also claiming the fake Shekau might become a tool to blackmail members of the opposition, by coaching the phantom terror chief to say he was working for its presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, in order to link him to terrorism.
”With this statement coming from the APC, it is clear that the party knows what we don’t know about Boko Haram.
”It also indicates that the APC people do not want the Boko Haram insurgency to end so that they can continue to make political gains from it.
”Therefore, APC should simply produce the original Shekau that they know because you can only recognise fake when you know the original.

I still cook for my husband — Aisha Buhari
Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, yesterday, said that despite her present status, she still cooks her husband’s food.
She gave the revelation at a party she organised for children drawn from different parts of the country in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Her remark followed an excuse to depart from the party amid dances by the children.
“I’m going to leave you soon. I want to go back home to cook for my husband because my children are here playing with you. Nobody is at home, only my husband. So, I want to go back home to be with him and also cook dinner for him”, she said.
She further stated that the Sallah party was an indication of the seriousness her husband’s administration attached to the welfare of the youth.
She said, “On occasions like this, we celebrate with children, especially the less privileged, including those in the various internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) camp. We love, appreciate and share with their present situation.
“The reason for this is to promote warm interaction and sharing what we have with one another. On this note particularly, we decided to celebrate with all children from different background”.
She charged the children to obey their parents and teachers’ instructions both at home and schools.
“The future of this great country lies in your hands. You are to compliment the efforts of government by working very hard in school and be obedient to your parents. Tomorrow you may become president, the president’s wife, Senator, honourable members, governors, medical doctors, teacher, journalist, engineer, nurse, lawyer and the rest of other honourable professions”, she added.
